Dear Attorney:
As
a family attorney who guides people through difficult and stressful
legal situations, I am sure you have seen the emotional turmoil that
your clients experience. I
am writing to introduce you to the Connecticut Association for Marriage
and Family Therapy (CAMFT), Connecticut’s professional organization
for Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs).
MFTs have been working with individuals, couples, and families in
Connecticut for over 60 years, helping them navigate interpersonal
relationships, divorce, adoption, marriage and a myriad of other issues
that bring them to therapy. In
fact, MFTs address the full range of mental health issues.
When
your client is in need of a referral to a licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist, our toll-free telephone referral service will make your job a
snap! Simply counsel your client to dial 1-877-987-6534, and let the
referral begin. There is a
qualified MFT right in your area, available to help your clients with
their specific needs and issues. In
fact, there are over 400 licensed MFTs throughout Connecticut who have
completed the rigorous training required by the American Association for
Marriage and Family Therapy. These licensed MFTs have completed all of the testing and
education requirements of the State of Connecticut and practice under
one of the most stringent Codes of Ethics in the field of psychotherapy.
We
have included brochures to give you more information regarding the
unique qualifications and expertise that MFTs offer their clients.
MFTs are trained to focus on the individual within a system - a
couple, family or group. The
specialized training allows them to view each problem through a wide
lens and to consider many possible ways of helping clients achieve their
goals.
In
addition to the toll-free telephone referral service, you can also find
licensed MFTs by accessing our website at www.ctamft.com.
Sincerely,
Wendy Davenson, LMFT,

Dear Attorney ________,
I hope that you recently received an
introductory letter from Wendy Davenson, President of the Connecticut
Association for Marriage & Family Therapy. The purpose of the letter
was to tell you a bit about Marriage and Family Therapy
and how it can enhance your practice by helping your clients who
may be experiencing such stressful life challenges as divorce, adoption,
marriage, bereavement, adolescent legal problems or similar issues.
As a licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist, right in your area, I can be a helpful resource to your
clients in successfully working through these types of issues—whether
they affect individuals, couples and/or families.
I have been in practice for ____ years, am licensed by the State
of Connecticut, and have the unique expertise to help people as they
move through the life transitions we all experience.
I am a provider with
___________________ insurance or managed care plans and can be reached
at ________________.
I would be happy to meet with you in person, if that would be useful to
you, and to receive any referrals to individuals, couples or families
whom you feel could use my services. I will give you a call to further
discuss this opportunity in the next two weeks.
Sincerely,

Script for Phone Call to Attorneys |
When you call an attorney in your area, you can simply follow the letter
above, or use this suggested script to provide information and ask for a
chance to discuss the services you offer:
Recently,
your office received a mailing from my professional organization, the CT
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, describing how MFTs can
help enhance your practice by working with your divorcing clients, as
well as families facing other kinds of significant changes.
If you’d be interested in hearing more about how I can support your
clients through these transitions, I’d be delighted to meet with you
or discuss with you by phone whatever questions you might have. Would
you like to make a date to meet or talk?......
In the meantime, please look over the materials I sent—there are
brochures and a magnet with contact information---and visit our website
at ctamft.com.
I
believe that we can create a partnership that will sustain your clients
through the challenges of change.

Direct Mail to Physicians |

Winter,
2003-2004
The Marketing Committee has some exciting news for all AAMFT/CAMFT
Clinical Marriage and Family Therapists!!
Another
CAMFT clinical membership benefit!!
During the Winter of 2003/2004, we
fielded a direct mailing to one of our targeted referral groups. Letters
were sent to family physicians throughout Connecticut by the
Direct Mail Team of the CAMFT Marketing Committee.
We
sent each physician a letter
highlighting what clinical Marriage and Family Therapists can do for
their patients and directing them to our CAMFT website where they can
click on a flashing button linking them to the AAMFT website to locate a
therapist in their area. Also, included with this letter was our marketing brochure,
"Growing Stronger Together".
The
letter, the marketing
brochure and an enclosed magnet give the physicians, and their
assistants, contact information about our website and our Toll Free
Telephone Referral Service. In
this way, we build awareness of MFT and MFTs among one of our most
important referral sources.
If
you are a clinical member, please check the AAMFT website at www.aamft.org
to ensure that your contact information is accurate.
TIME TO UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION WITH AAMFT!!
